This week, Glasgow Parks & Recreation was recognized with several major honors at the 2025 Kentucky Recreation & Parks Society (KRPS) Awards Ceremony, held on November 12. The annual event celebrates excellence in parks management, facilities, programming, and public service across Kentucky — and Glasgow had a standout year.
Glasgow received the Outstanding Facility Award for Beaver Creek Park & the Ochell Tuck Softball Complex. This award recognizes outdoor facilities that offer a unique enhancement to the quality of life within a community. Beaver Creek and Ochell Tuck remain two of Glasgow’s most visited and active recreation areas, and this recognition highlights the ongoing investment and maintenance that keep these spaces thriving.
The Glasgow Parks & Recreation maintenance team was also honored with the Outstanding Maintenance Team Award, recognizing their commitment to keeping facilities clean, safe, and welcoming year-round. From daily grounds work to major facility improvements, the team’s efforts ensure that families, teams, and visitors can enjoy Glasgow’s parks at their best.
Mayor Henry Royse was presented with the Public Official Award, given to a local, state, or federal official who has significantly contributed to the benefit of parks, recreation, and open-space programs. The award highlights Mayor Royse’s support for continued park improvements, community investment, and the long-term enhancement of recreational opportunities throughout Glasgow.
Members of the Glasgow Parks & Recreation staff, city leadership, and community partners attended the ceremony to celebrate this year’s recognitions. The awards reflect years of hard work, dedicated planning, and a shared commitment to providing quality recreation spaces for residents of all ages.
“These awards are really about our team and the people of Glasgow,” said Mayor Henry Royse. “We’re proud of what they’ve built and the care they put into it. It’s clear they take great pride in serving a community that truly values its parks.”

As Glasgow continues to grow, Parks & Recreation remains focused on expanding accessibility, enhancing existing facilities, and creating spaces that foster connection, recreation, and community pride.
The City of Glasgow congratulates the entire Parks & Recreation team for their achievements and thanks KRPS for recognizing the hard work being done here at home.
