Welcome to the Glasgow Fire Department!

The Glasgow Fire Department is a family of 36 frontline firefighters, 3 command staff, & 1 administrative assistant. The department pursues excellence in knowledge, skills, safety, and service. Our members strive to be exemplary role models to those we meet and come in contact with. The trust and responsibility the city has given this department is not taken lightly. We will continue to ensure that this city takes great pride in it’s fire department and the service we provide.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I obtain a burn permit?

Burn permits are issued and only good for the same day. Call 270-651-5170 and answer a couple of questions, we will send someone out to your location to look around and issue the permit- as long as everything looks good. There is no fee to obtain a permit.

Can I visit the fire department?

Yes! Both stations offer tours for anyone to come visit. We enjoy having children come out with their excited faces and smiles. Our Firefighters will provide hats, stickers, bracelets, and/or coloring pages to the children.

Who do I call in an emergency?

In the event of any emergency, please call 9-1-1 for our trucks to be dispatched out to you.

How can I find out about burn bans?

County and City Government sites post when there is any burn ban in effect. 

Also, you can call us at any time to find out if any bans are in place.

Fire Hazard Seasons are Feb 15th- April 30th, and Oct 1st- Dec. 15th. During these seasons it is illegal to burn within 150 feet of woodland or brushland between 6am- 6pm. 

When should I change the batteries in my smoke alarms?

An easy way to remember is to change the batteries when time change happens. 

How old do I have to be to apply for position of firefighter?

For employment with GFD, you have to be 18 years old, with high school diploma or equivalent.
