Master Plan

In 2018, we researched the demographics of Glasgow, population trends, and resident feedback to determine a Master Plan for the City’s Parks and Recreation Department.  With the help of park board members, steering committee members, the mayor, city council members and Brandstetter Carroll Inc, a consultant team, our plan with 110 strategies was created with ways that will help to improve our parks and provide the community with fun activities for everyone.

Some key findings from the community surveys found that the community desires:

  • an outdoor aquatic center
  • upgrades to existing parks
  • more community events
  • addition of supporting facilities (restrooms, lighting, drinking fountains, etc.)
  • athletic field improvements
  • picnic opportunities
    and soo many more.

As you explore our master plan and visit our parks, you will see that several items on this desired list have been met, or are in the works to be met. Including: playground upgrades, adding in restrooms and shelters for picnics. Our department has multiple special events throughout the year from Easter Egg hunt, to Summer Concerts. As well as Halloween trunk or treat and Turkey Trot.

The demolition of American Legion Park began in 2024. With an expected open date for Summer 2025 for the brand new aquatic center!

You can view the entire Master Plan here.
With an appendix that was added in 2019 here.
