Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Communications Center (BMECC)
The Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Communications Center (BMECC) serves as the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for Barren and Metcalfe Counties. Established in March 1994, BMECC is the communications hub that connects the public to emergency response 24/7.
When you call for help, our team is the first link in the chain, gathering critical information and quickly dispatching the appropriate responders.
BMECC dispatches and supports coordinated response for:
City and County Law Enforcement
City and County Fire Departments
EMS
Emergency Management (EMA)
Animal Control
Coroner’s Office
Dive Team
The Communications Department is the vital link between the public’s need for assistance, both emergency and non-emergency, and the agencies that provide that help.
Call 911 for emergencies such as:
Medical emergencies
Fires or smoke
Crimes in progress
Serious traffic accidents
Situations where life or property is in immediate danger

When calling 911, stay calm and be ready to share:
Location (address, landmarks, mile markers)
What is happening
Who needs help and how many people are involved
Any immediate dangers (weapons, fire, hazardous materials)
Your information helps responders arrive faster and better prepared.
